Located on Sunnyside Drive in Forest Acres, Jubilee Academy now calls Eastside Baptist Church, home. This new location is less than 2 miles from the original facility in Faith Court on Waites Road (formally the gates of hell). This keeps us close to the community where these children live but also on the edge of the type of community that families would like to transition to. The move began in October 2010 and with the outpouring of volunteer help a Dedication and Open House was held on February 1, 2011.
Jubilee enjoys the green grass, large shade trees and beautiful flowers along Sunnyside Drive and Grace Hill Road. The students are able to take walks past nicely kept yards in a safe environment, and even meet friendly neighbors along the way. The Jr. League of Columbia has partnered with Jubilee to create a precious kitchen garden in the backyard which has become a significant “practical life” learning tool and has drawn attention from all parts of the community. An Eagle Scout chose to create an outdoor classroom and eating area next to the garden as his final project. Bird feeders (that students keep filled) and container gardens (that students keep watered) are created and strategically placed to extend and enhance the learning environment.
